Avalon I.T. Services also provides web design. Whether you have a tourism based business such as adventure tours, or accomodations such as a Bed and Breakfast, or if you are a local contractor or artisan, or even own a store ... we can design a website for you. We also do websites for municipalities and other organizations!
If you use or want to use Social Networking such as Twitter, Facebook, etc ... we can setup and incorporate that too!
There are two basic types of site:
Websites that do not change much, where each page is coded individually. For a simple site to advertise a product or service, this is probably your best bet. These sites are less expensive to start out, but need to have portions re-coded by a web designer any time you wish to change something on your website.
Static websites usually cost around $500 and generally contain 5 or so pages, although the individual needs of the customer may cause these rates to vary. Additional features such as Flash animations and GPS mapping may also cause higher rates.
Dynamic sites can change and grow as you do. They are designed to be constantly updated and changed. These sites tend to contain a Content Management System which allows you to log into an administrative panel of your website with your username and password to make changes. With a Content Management System, you can add entire pages with an easy to use online editor, change or re-arrange menu items, add News or Calendar items, update Photo Galleries, etc.
Although these sites are more expensive to start out, they can be less expensive in the long run, as you do not need to hire a web-designer every time you want to change something on your website.
Dynamic sites are not limited to a particular number of pages. The prices may vary depending on the needs of the client and the features used. When a site contains a Content Management System, we provide training to the client (upon completion of the site) on how to use the CMS to keep the site updated and maintained. This is of special use to Municipalities who need to constantly be updating Upcoming Events, News, Downloadable documents such as Bylaws/Regulations and application forms.
Content Management Systems:
Content Management Systems can come in a couple of flavours. You can use a basic CMS such as Joomla, or Wordpress which can be a little cheaper, but a little more limiting, although not as limiting as a static website. They still allow you to change content or images, and add news items, and events on the calendar of your website. Or you can go with the more freedom granted by a custom built CMS. These cost a little more, but can be tailored to your own individual needs including modules for products and services, etc.
